Controversies and setbacks continue to plague Pakistan cricket, adding to their on-field struggles. A fresh scandal has now emerged, further damaging the nation’s reputation on the global stage.

A former Pakistan captain is under scrutiny for alleged connections with a player agent who has been banned by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Reports suggest that the ex-skipper played a key role in securing contracts for players through the now-disgraced agent.

Another Corruption Scandal Hits Pakistan Cricket

Once celebrated for its extraordinary cricketing talent, Pakistan cricket is now making headlines for the wrong reasons. Corruption allegations, which have previously stained its reputation, have resurfaced in a new form.

Mughiz Ahmed Sheikh, the head of the International Cricket Association and a registered player agent with the ECB, has been suspended following an investigation. Sheikh was found guilty of four breaches of the ECB’s anti-corruption code, leading to the immediate suspension of his registration as an agent.

According to reports, Sheikh allegedly attempted to bribe a British coach with illicit incentives to ensure his preferred players made it into the team. Adding another layer to the controversy, a former Pakistan skipper—who currently holds a prominent position in the country's cricketing setup—has been linked to Sheikh. The ex-captain is believed to have played a significant role in securing contracts for young cricketers through the controversial agency.

In light of these revelations, several well-known Pakistani cricketers, including Abdullah Shafique, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Usama Mir, have distanced themselves from the accused agency. The ECB has banned Sheikh along with other individuals associated with his company.

As the scandal unfolds, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to issue an official response, leaving many questions unanswered.
